About Us - A Legacy of Love and Open Doors

I’m Milad, the founder of Grandmother’s Home. From street football in Copenhagen to organizing hikes and travel experiences, one thing has always guided me: a love for bringing people together.

The idea for Grandmother’s Home was born from cherished memories of my own grandmother’s house, a place where the door was always open and the kettle was always warm. From morning until night, her home was filled with laughter, shared stories, and the comforting aroma of freshly baked treats. No matter who you were or where you came from, when you sat at her table, you belonged. You were family.

Those memories, combined with the stories I’ve collected from people I’ve met along the way, inspired me to create a place rooted in connection, nature, and genuine hospitality. Grandmother’s Home is not just a retreat, it’s a continuation of that spirit of openness and care.

Like my grandmother, who made every guest feel seen and special, we welcome only six guests at a time. This allows us to offer each person the warmth, presence, and attention they truly deserve. Here, you’re not simply staying somewhere, you’re becoming part of a story shaped by love, connection, and a deep sense of belonging.

Grandmother’s Home is something we are creating together. My wife, Tanja, is part of the heart behind the scenes, helping prepare the home, shaping our online space, and sharing the story through our website and social media. Together, we are looking forward to welcoming you and making you feel at home.

We are excited to share this new chapter with you and to welcome you into a home where open doors, shared moments, and meaningful connections are at the heart of every stay.

A detailed programme will be shared two weeks before your trip.
Beyond nature, there's more to discover on your own or in smaller groups: the IKEA Museum in Älmhult, the BRIO toy museum in Osby, many loppis (the little secondhand shops Swedes love), and local food from some of the best producers in southern Sweden. (Opening hours may vary during Easter, we'll share what's open before your trip.)
